Co-operative Bank makes a difference with new ethical credit card

November 8, 2007

Credit cards have come a long way since they were first launched within the UK. These days you can get cash back cards, reward credit cards and even charity credit cards.
Helping charities out with a credit card is definitely a fantastic idea and there are literally hundreds of charity credit cards available to apply for today. However, there has been one area which credit cards have not managed to help out before now and that is ethical consumerism.

The Co-operative bank has recognised this and so recently they have launched their brand new “Think” credit card. Designed to reward consumers who shop for ethically friendly products, Think is a credit card which is set to really make a difference. So many people pay more for ethical products and they do not get rewarded for that. So with this new credit card from the Co-Operative bank, consumers can look forward to lower interest rates whilst they help to protect the environment.

Most credit cards offer a typical rate of 14%. However when you spend using the card in selected stores, you can benefit from 7% interest for a full six months following your purchase. The stores that are currently participating in the scheme include IKEA, thetrainline.com and Lush to name just a few.

What’s more, when you make your first purchase with the card, the Co-Operative bank will make a real difference to the Brazilian rainforest. As soon as that first purchase is made, half an acre of the Brazilian Rainforest will be protected in your name. What better way to know you are making a difference than to have half an acre of rainforest purchased and protected in your name?

Overall this new Think credit card is definitely set to go down well with consumers. There really is no reason why we can’t all make a difference and this new credit card gives us an easy way to help out the environment.
