Go green with Barclays blue debit cardBarclays, with over 14 million retail customers in the UK, have introduced a new environmentally friendly debit card named Blue Debit Card. This new debit card is already being sent out to the banks current 11 million debit cardholders as soon as their current ones expire.

Barclays worked closely with it card manufacturer, Axalto, who in turn sought advice from The Carbon Neutral Company to produce the new card with a very distinctive blue edge. The new process to make the the new carbon neutral debit card reduces the threat of harmful emissions during the manufacturing process.

Barclays has a proven record in green issues with them being named among the top 50 “best in class” companies in the Global FT500 for initiatives addressing the challenges of climate change.

Barclays head of debit cards, Brian Cunnington, said, “We are pleased to be able to offer this brand new carbon neutral debit card.  It is good news for people who want a greener form of banking and its distinctive blue edge makes it easy to spot in your wallet or purse.”
