Are you one of the millions of people who switch credit cards?A new study has shown that millions of people will switch their credit card provider over the next 12 months. In fact the figures are likely to be closer to six million if the study by Abbey has got it right.

The reason why so many people are choosing to switch their credit cards is mainly because they are getting more credit wise. They are starting to understand interest rates and the various deals that are offered by other credit card providers. There is so much competition between credit card providers these days which is excellent for the consumer. Better deals and 0% balance transfer options are two of the reasons why consumers are making the switch and it is all thanks to a good amount of information given by debt advice agencies and consumer watchdogs.

Balance transfer deals in particular tend to be what really draws the customers in. It is thought that roughly £1,710 is changed over in an average transaction on a balance transfer deal. Most people have some form of debt on their credit cards and credit card providers know this. That is why balance transfer options are available as the providers know that it will draw in new customers.

Following closely behind balance transfer offers are cashback credit card offers. These allow you to get cashback based upon a certain amount that is spent on the card. It is basically getting money for spending what you would usually be spending anyway. So cashback deals do tend to draw many new customers in.

Overall it is always a good idea to switch your credit card provider if you feel you are not getting the best deal. You have no loyalty to the provider you are currently with as they are only out to get as much money from you as they can. So if you do see a better deal then itis certainly worth taking it up!
