card provider American Express (Amex) has claimed that it is one of the
top lenders for cashback rewards, offering a "market-leading" rate
on its platinum card.
The product offers new applicants a three per cent money-back rate for the first three months.
Following this period, a rate of 0.5 per cent will be offered on aggregate amounts up to £3,500.
For amounts ranging from £3,501 to £10,000 a one per cent cashback rate will be available and for sums of £10,001 and over customers will be offered a rate of 1.5 per cent.
Tom Allder, director of lending for Amex, said: "American Express first launched a cashback credit card in 1998 and eight years on, remains committed to rewarding card members for their spending and offering highly competitive rewards to attract new customers.
"Our offer is clear and simple: no restrictions on where you spend, no spending cap or minimum threshold."
The standard APR for purchases for new card members on the Amex platinum card is 14.9 per cent variable.
