However, whilst it is likely that many of us will be buying the bulk of our Christmas chopping online, there is one catch which many retail outlets will love. That is online fraud.

Online fraud has inevitably increased as more and more people have turned to the Internet to buy their goods. Fraudsters have become particularly clever when it comes to getting hold of your information online. So if you are planning on shopping online then it would pay to be really careful with where you purchase things from and where you store your details.

The main reason why people love shopping online so much is because it does offer you the chance to pay with your credit card. This means that you can purchase literally anything from the comfort of your own home with credit. However, due to the fact that so many people are using their credit cards online, it has caused fraudsters to set up business and focus on online payments only. This means that they are simply not bothering to steal people’s details offline anymore and up to three quarters of fraud is now committed online.

Overall whilst it may seem really straight forward to just buy all of your presents online, you should really think about the details that you are entering. Is the site trustworthy? Can you be sure that our credit card details will not be found on the site in some way? Resist the urge to give your credit card details to just anybody. You are likely to receive emails from so called legitimate companies telling you that you need to update your credit card details. Don’t do it! It is one of the most successful ways for fraudsters to get their hands on your details.
