Could you benefit from the new APACS PIN security guide?
September 10, 2007
With the large amount of confusion that has been shown by consumers regarding their credit card pin security, APACS has decided to release a pin security guide. Launched on the 16th of August 2007, the guide clearly tells you how to keep your pin number a secret from those around you.
The pack is introduced to us after many surveys have revealed that people simply do not protect their pin numbers enough. Most people who use ATM’s do not shield their number from anybody who could be lurking behind them. Whilst this trust is admirable, it can also be extremely foolish as there are fraudsters everywhere desperate to catch you off guard.
There are a number of dangers with fraudsters gaining access to your pin details. The first is that obviously they can withdraw money using your cards pin number. This can cause you to become in serious trouble financially and they can virtually wipe out all of your money from your account.
This new information pack is free to download and APACS is hoping that it will push consumers to be more vigilant with their numbers. It is mainly just common sense that stops fraudsters from gaining access to your details, but people tend to put a lot more trust into others than they should these days. So with the information pack you will be able to remind yourself about the dangers that you face and about the simple measures it takes to stop your pin number from being stolen.
Overall what you will learn in the security pack is nothing miraculous. It is common sense and you have been told this information time and time again. However it will remind you of the dangers that are lurking and hopefully it will make you a little more conscious when you do use your credit card whilst you are out shopping.
