Now credit cards are ideal for times of emergency, but if you are paying off your bills with them then they can cause you to get into a lot of debt. Debt advice services are seeing an increase in the number of people getting into trouble because they need to. So what are the alternatives to using a credit card in times of need?
The main advantage of a credit card is that you can simply take it out of your purse/wallet, scan it through a chip and pin machine and simply walk off with your purchases. You can also use it to pay for literally everything and you do not even need to see any money at all when you pay. So it makes the whole experience leave you feeling a lot less guilty than you would if you actually had to part with your money.
However because it is easy to spend on your credit card, that is when problems can occur. In the event of paying off bills on your credit card, you do not take into consideration that you will be in even more debt if you choose to use it for that purpose than you would if you were to pay your bills late. This means that it is often a better idea to talk to the lender or the person in charge of your bills, to see if you can arrange some kind of payment plan.

Yes you could use your credit card to pay them in full, but then you will have further debt and in the long run you will not be getting out of it. So there are alternatives to paying off your bills on a credit card; you just have to contact the people you owe money to and explain that you are having problems.
