Why supermarket credit cards are becoming increasingly popular

Long gone are the days where supermarkets only stocked our groceries. These days you can find electrical items clothing, entertainment and even financial products in your local supermarket. It seems that supermarkets know exactly what their customers want and low interest rate credit cards is one of the most common requested products available today.

Before supermarkets offered various different credit cards, we relied mainly upon banks and other independent lenders. However, with competition hotting up between the two and customer satisfaction lacking, supermarkets such as Marks and Spencer’s and Sainsbury’s have decided to join in. Now one in five of us has a supermarket credit card and it seems they are just as good as the top lenders.

However, you do have to be careful with supermarket credit cards. As with everything, their rates will not always be the same for every single person. It depends entirely upon your circumstances what rate you will receive and so it is better to enquire about that before you apply. Sometimes supermarket credit cards are not always as they seem and if you do not meet the requirements to receive the lowest possible interest rate, you could well end up in a lot of debt.

Mainly however, if you do the right amount of research, you will find that supermarket credit cards are usually just as good as other lenders. They all have their advantages and disadvantages, but supermarkets are trying to be extremely competitive now. This is likely to force other lenders to become more competitive themselves. Seem as though millions of customers visit supermarkets each week, they have a good opportunity to get a lot of potential applicants for their credit card products.

Overall times are changing and supermarkets are constantly looking to be more beneficial for their customers. There are some good deals out there to be found so if you are looking for a new credit card do not be put off by supermarket offers.
