Credit cards set to offer better travel insurance dealsEver since 2005, consumers had to cope with no complimentary travel insurance from their credit card providers. However, now it seems that that is about to change and some people do actually have travel insurance on their cards without even realising it.

Many cards do now offer the travel insurance that we need and that means that it is important to check before you buy separate insurance that you do not already have it. So whilst it is acceptable to think that you automatically don’t have travel insurance, it is still worth checking out. It is not just travel insurance that we often do not know what we have either – there are a whole range of benefits that come with various cards and we hardly ever check to see what we are entitled to.

It is thought that 4 out of 5 credit cards offer travel insurance and that tends to include travel expenses, accommodation expenses and medical expenses caused by an accident. Some credit card companies even offer lost luggage and if you get a platinum card then the cover you can get adds up to £350,000. The lowest travel insurance that you can get is roughly around £25,000. It all basically depends upon your card and you will have to read through the terms and conditions to know what you are entitled to.

Overall travel insurance is an important part of a holiday and it will allow you to relax and enjoy yourself without the worry of what may happen. When things do go wrong abroad it can cost a lot of money potentially, so it is certainly worth taking out some form of protection and if your credit card company does not provide that then you should take it out separately. Just remember to check before you do and read through your terms and conditions.
