Students how hard do you find it to get a hold of a credit card? Very hard I would say, unless you are willing to take out one of the just for student.
I would say to you to watch out for these cards, as the credit card companies that will offer you one of this type of cards, will have the ulterior motive of pushing one of they’re cards on to you with the pre-perception that all students are lazy and care-free and just want to get their hands on some spending power.
Do not be dazzled with cheap extras..........
Don’t be an easy sting for these companies, as playing on the fact that you are maybe already in debt and need some cash for your studies or your free time to live the student life, these credit card issuers will throw in little insignificant extras like book tokens and CD vouchers to make you feel as if they are the only ones who are going to help you out, therefore they going to be your friend.

This is hogwash, as these credit card companies will have a much higher APR than any normal credit card, they will also hope that because you have used them through your student years, that you will carry on using them when you leave college or university. But that is where the sting really hits as the interest rate that you were probably happy to pay just to get a credit card in the first place, stays in place even when you have finished your studies.
Search for a better credit card deal........
So here is what to do, we all know that some credit card issuers will not give you a credit line because of the lack of steady income that you will have, but do not despair and jump on to a student credit card. There are a few credit card companies out there who are offering you who have a lower APR than the student and they don’t take into account that you have to earning a certain amount of cash to receive one. As long as you are doing some sort of part-time or seasonal work, the credit card issuers will see no problem in giving you one of their cards.
Remember to shop around...........
My advice to you is when you are looking for a credit card, don’t be the stereotypical student that your banks are looking for, shop around don’t take what the student credit card that is the first one put in front of you with the promise of the little perks that come with it. Check out all the that have not got a minimum earnings clause attached to it and you will be quite pleasantly surprised at the gulf in interest payments. So use that brain that you have and make sure that when you finish your studies and get that first job, that you are not going into it to pay off a massive debt.
