Challenge Your Credit Card Company to Improve Their Rates

If you are happy with your credit card company, but have looked at one of the many deals that are on the market right now and are thinking to yourself that some of these are a better proposition than the one you have just now, but there is a way you try and get your current credit card to give you a more competitive interest rate. But don’t think that this is going to give you untold grief, as it wont it is actually quiet easy. So lets show you how to save some money on your interest rates, with next to no fuss.

The first thing that you should know and we have already touched on it is, if you are happy with credit card service that you are receiving and the benefits that are attached to the card? Yes well read on and lets save some cash, if the answer is no, then my only advice to you is to move to another credit card that may offer you the need to feel a bit more loyal.

If you are one of the happy ones and are reading on, well the first thing that you should do is make sure that your payments are well up to date, don’t miss any payments and have an overall good payment history, as this will give you the basis to start to ask for a reduction in you interest rates. If not you will have to try and build up your payment history before you try.

When you have worked out the above you then call the credit card company, when you call have an attitude of either you accept that what I want is met then you are for the off. This can be done as if you are in a position of having a good payment history, as the credit card company do not want to loose good customers, as customers mean money, so you are holding a good hand.

Write down and practice what you are going to say to them before you call, telling them of other offers that you have received from other credit card issuers, stating how long you have been a customer of theirs and how they have never had any problems with you making your payments and what if anything that they can do to meet these other offers and to keep your custom, sounds a little like blackmail but will help you get what you want.

Don’t be cheeky you wouldn’t want somebody being this way with you, so if you come up against someone on the other end of the phone who is maybe having an off day or is just a jobs worth, just ask politely if you could speak to the customer service supervisor.

If you can not get your way and get a reduction in your interest rates and a better deal on any off the other fees that you may feel are a little high, then make sure that you have one of the that you have had an offer on set up and follow through your threat to cancel your account, making sure you ask for confirmation that this has been done and move to the other credit card company. If the credit card company values your custom then they will succumb to your demands, if not then you will be better off somewhere, where you are valued as much as you value the card you own.
